Download Kingdom Rush Vengeance - Tower Defense for macOS

Ironhide's dark twist on tower defense runs beautifully on modern Macs. The build is a universal binary, so it's smooth sailing on both Apple Silicon machines (M1 through M4) and older Intel Macs. I played on a Mac mini M4 running macOS Tahoe, and it stayed crisp and responsive through every chaotic wave.
Build your dark arsenal
You place towers along the path to shred incoming knights and elves. There are 18 towers to choose from, each with its own special skills — Shadow Archers, Orc Shaman, and the wonderfully grim Bone Flingers, to name a few. Between stages, you spend earned stars on 30 army upgrades that boost damage, range, or unlock new abilities.
Pick a hero and hold the line
You control one of 13 heroes directly around the map, dropping them into the thick of a fight to cast spells or chop down a stubborn enemy. Reinforcements and new abilities like a targeted soul blast give you active tools to plug leaks when your tower setup gets overwhelmed.
Clear the campaign
Minute to minute, you're watching enemy routes, selling a tower to afford a mage upgrade, and timing your hero's big cooldown. The campaign throws new enemy types and terrain at you regularly, and there are more than 60 achievements if you want to chase every side challenge.
Walk through the Dwarven gates
Let me lay out a stage I keep coming back to — Kazan's Rage. The map splits into two main lanes that merge near the exit, and dwarven engineers spawn right behind the front-line troops. I start by dropping a Bone Flinger on the central island where both paths nearly touch, then park Asra just above it to catch the first engineers before they plant a turret. By wave three I add an Orc Shaman on the lower lane to strip armour from the heavy shield-bearers, then save gold for a Blazing Gem tower at the merge point around wave five. The gem's area damage clears the clumped packs that slip past the flingers, and I use Asra's shadow dodge to reposition her into the upper lane when the flying machines show up around wave eight. Reinforcements plug the lower gap while her cooldown resets. The trick is selling the first Shaman when the final king trundles in — he's slow and heavily armoured, so I swap it for a Specters Mausoleum that possesses his retinue and turns the adds against him. Forty seconds later the stage is done, and you pocket the stars for another point in the 'Demon Goonies' upgrade.
Star upgrades with no undo button
The biggest snag I hit early was wasting upgrades on towers I barely used. The game doesn't refund stars, so dumping points into the first two tiers of Orc Barracks felt smart until I realised I hadn't placed a barracks in four stages. My fix: before each new land, I skim the enemy previews in the encyclopedia and pick two tower types to invest in deeply instead of spreading upgrades thin. Another common headache is the 'Ancient Ghost' enemies on the haunted stages — they phase out and waltz straight past your kill zone. The game never tells you outright, but tower abilities that deal true damage ignore the phasing. A single upgraded Wicked Sisters tower with the poison talent handles them better than three maxed-out archers. If the frame rate ever stutters during the later boss waves (I've seen it once on an older Intel Air), switching from fullscreen to windowed mode and back usually clears whatever buffer is clogging things up — no restart required.
