Privacy policy
I keep things simple here — no ads, no trackers, and no selling anything you trust me with. But I still want you to know exactly how your information works when you visit TheiPadFan. This page explains it in plain color.
Your comments
What happens when I leave a comment?
Every comment goes through moderation before it shows up on the site. While a comment waits in the queue, only I can see it — along with the display name you chose, the email address tied to your account, and which program page you left it on. Once I approve it, your display name and comment become public. Your email address never appears publicly.
Can I see my comment before it’s approved?
Yes. Right after you post, you’ll see your own comment on the page with a small “awaiting moderation” marker. Other readers won’t see it until I clear it.
Changes to this policy
How will I know if something changes?
If I ever need to update this page, I’ll note the change right here with a short summary and the date it took effect. There won’t be a blast of emails about it — just a clean update on the site for anyone who wants to check back.
Server logs
What does the server record?
Like practically every website, my server keeps ordinary logs: your IP address, the browser and operating system you’re using, and which pages you requested. I use these strictly for security and troubleshooting — tracking down errors, keeping an eye out for abuse, and making sure the site stays fast and stable. These logs are rotated out automatically and I don’t mine them for anything else.
Your account
What information do you store when I create an account?
A free account stores a handful of things:
- Your chosen display name
- Your email address
- A hashed version of your password (I never see the original, and neither does anyone else)
- Any programs you’ve saved to your favourites
- Comments you’ve posted
- Your notification preferences, so the site knows when to ping you about an update to a saved program
Where do notifications appear?
Right on the site itself. When a program you’ve favourited gets an update, you’ll see a notification badge when you’re signed in. There’s no email blast for updates, and there’s no marketing email at all — I don’t send any.
Children
Is this site meant for kids?
TheiPadFan isn’t designed for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect any information from them. If a parent or guardian thinks their child has given me information, they can reach me at [email protected] and I’ll take care of it straight away.
Cookies
Do you use cookies?
It depends on whether you sign in. If you’re just browsing without an account, the site doesn’t set any cookies at all — zero. When you choose to sign in, two small cookies land in your browser: a session cookie that keeps you signed in while you move around the site, and a simple sign-in marker cookie that remembers you on future visits so you don’t have to log in every time. That’s it. No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, no third-party cookies of any kind.
What we never do
Do you sell data or share it with advertisers?
Never. I don’t sell your information, I don’t trade it, and I don’t hand it over to anyone. There are no third-party advertising trackers on TheiPadFan — not for analytics, not for targeting, not for anything. The site doesn’t even carry ads. This catalog exists because I enjoy sharing programs that work well in a cross-device Apple life, and I’d rather keep it clean than clutter it with surveillance.
Could that change in the future?
If I ever considered a different approach, I’d say so clearly and update this page before anything went live. But honestly, the no-tracking, no-ads posture is a core part of why I built the site this way, and I don’t see that shifting.
Deleting your account
How do I remove my account and comments?
Just write to me at [email protected] from the email address linked to your account. I’ll delete the account, your favourites, and your comments. If you only want certain comments removed and prefer to keep the account, mention that in your message and I’ll handle it.
